Austria or Italy, early Sept

I have leave starting Sept 4th and am heading for a weekend in Ostend to meet friends. Thereafter I have 1 or possibly 2 weeks off work and am considering a trip to Austria and Italy.

Vague plan:
I'm not planning on camping as I want to travel light but I will be looking for budget accommodation rather than luxury hotels. Happy to share.
I don't have a specific destination as yet, open to suggestions.

Me:
I'm an experienced rider having lived and ridden overseas many times. I'm not exactly a speed freak but I'm not someone who would be happy riding at 50mph on a clear road. Best to know now

If anyone is interested in joining me for the trip or along the way, please drop me a line and feel free to ask further questions.

I don't mind what bike someone has as long as they can keep up

If you're serious, would you please PM or post what experience you have.
Will you be joining me for the whole trip or just a part of it?

Hi Elaine,

I am planning a trip starting at the same time as yours , ish..

I am planning to go all the way to Istanbul through Switz. Italy, Slovenia, croatia, down Greece, etc... and back up going through Austria, germany.

Let's try and meet on the way for a short ride, or a longer one if my itinerary is of interest for you.

I am planning on camping most of the nights, though...

JJ

JJ, sorry only just read this message. I've made further progress with my arrangements:
a guy riding to Crete is joining me at the beginning of the journey.
on friday 4th sept, we're taking the ferry from Hull, then spending the weekend in Ostend with my friends before heading through Germany to Austria (he wants to do france on his return trip and I wasn't bothered either way).
you are more than welcome to join us & you may be able to ride further with kevin.

I will attempt to email you my address privately.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
