Australia to Europe in 2010

My plans are still in their embryonic form, but the rough idea involves heading out from Australia (I'm starting from Perth WA) to South East Asia, then up thru Asia (somehow) and further west to Europe.

I've got no fixed departure date but initial research suggests Dec 2009 or early 2010 could be reasonable times to head off, and likewise I've got between four and six months to play with so there's some flexibility there as well. I'm hoping my trusty KLR650 gets me to a decent pub in London, otherwise it could be a long walk for a drink!

Cheers,

Vince

What is the rough schedule for your Vlad to Turkey section? I am hoping to go:

Sydney-Darwin-Dili-island hop to Sumatra-Malaysia-Thailand-fly to Russia (Vlad)-Kazakhstan-Ukraine-Slovakia-Austria-Italy-France-USA. My schedule says departure mid May for Europe by mid July but might prefer to meet up with others rather than go alone so therefore might be more flexible.

Rtw 2010

Hi all !,

I have similar plans and time-table, starting late Feb / early March from Darwin to Singapore then ride SE asia for 3 months.

Air / sea freight to Dhaka then 2 months following the Himalayas ( have mates there just now and quite wet - so not expecting to go quick including Kathmandu to Lhasa if I can find 9 other no-hopers ), then pickup Pakistan, Iran, ( North Iraq if OK ) Syria, Jordan, Turkey, Greece then slowly West to Islay in Scotland.

Finish there about October.

Good to keep in touch / meet if not tag-along for parts.

Cheers and keep in touch !!
Frank.

Hey guys,
i'm planning a similar trip for April '10, Sydney-Cape Town, South Africa via S.E asia and the middle east. No real time frame, i guess as long as i have cash. Would be great to keep in contact and maybe sit down over a beer sometime and share thoughts.

Good idea. I suggest a brainstorming session in a few weeks. Say Sept 12th?

Sounds good, might be in Byron that weekend but will know within a week or two. Will keep it open otherwise.
