Aussies going Isle of Man to Vladivostok - in two weeks!!

Hi folks we are two Aussies from Adelaide heading off on DR650's from the Isle of man down through Istanbul through all the Stan's Mongolia and over to Vlad. We leave the Isle of Man on June 6th and hopefully will make it to Vlad by early September. If you see two blokes looking confused and muttering at an upside down map (note to self...better get a map!!) stop and say hello! If anyone has Mehmet's email in Istanbul can they shoot it to me as I dont have face book and I haven't posted enough threads to access it. Would be good to catch up with him as we may/will need pointing in the right direction in Istanbul. We have a blog thingo happening itsalongwaythere.blogspot.com so if you're interested have a squizz and send a comment. Four sleeps before I jump on the plane and give work a miss for 3.5 months - woooohoo! Cheers Dean

IOM to Vlad Stuff

Hi Jamie and Paul .Pick up the bikes today and head over to Liverpool to catch the ferry. Leave IOM on the sixth to head to Istanbul. Hopefully see you enroute somewhere. Any info on accommodation in Istanbul would be good. Weather here in London is crap but I guess as I'm out in it the next three months I'd better toughen up! Cheers Dean

Dean - I'm a long way ahead of you man. I'm in eastern Turkey now and will be heading to Georgia in a couple of days. Maybe hook up later in the trip?

Paul - I doubt I'll make it as far as UB by then, but might bump into you crossing Mongolia at some point. Where you heading after Mongolia?

I’m guessing you’ll be busily clocking up the miles but if you need a bed (& a sofa) for the night whilst passing through near to London let me know. I’m in Watford, north of London near to where the M1 and M25 motorways meet.

I’m away on the bike but back on Sunday June 8th. Guessing you’ll be well on your by then but the offer stands. I was away for a while and need to repay/pass on the kindness people showed me.

I hope the weather holds and the road is kind! Enjoy.

IOM to Vlad Stuff

Hi folks yep still in the rain on the IOM - got a magic day on saturday so all's good. Thanks for your offer Smudge but I but we hope to spend as little time getting to Dover after going to the Kazakh consulate as we can. Hi Martin think this might be a bit late as we dont have a working phone at the moment. Dont ask! We are in glenlough campground and circulating the circuit constantly (woo Hoo)so if you see a white and a blue DR chase us down! Please keep an eye on our blog and hit us up with any tips as we are a bit/way out of our league!

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
