Its a piece of cake

I've just been through Turkey, across Georgia and Azerbaijan then across the stans into Siberia. I went on my own, everyone was very very friendly, cops stopped me but just to chat or buy me food (Ok, the free lunch only came twice) on a Cagiva Elefant. It was a piece of cake until my valve clearances went 'beyond acceptable limits'. Would love to do it again, but am unfortunately now stony broke.....

Hi Henryuk,
Thanks for taking the time to reply, very brave using a Cagiva Elefant but what a trip. I prefer the Africa twin myself but when the devil drives you go with the flow. I checked out your web site, nice to see UNICEF benefacting from your adventures.
I'll drop you an email for some more details on the route etc. etc.

Best Regards

Hi Zepco and Twin-rider,

I'm planning a solo trip to Turkey from July 27 - August 20. I'm going from Barcelona (Spain) to Cesme by ferry (via Italy). I would be glad to contact or meet other travellers/residents during my stay to interchange experiences and have a drink.

This will be my second time in Turkey. In the first one, in 1992 I was in Istambul (no bike then). I enjoyed it a lot.

I haven't decided my itinerary yet. I'm working on this and I'm open to any suggestions :-)

Beers in Izmir

Hi Ramon;

If that 65 in your nick stands for what I guess, we are probably at the same age and I will be glad to pay for first beers if you happen to come to Izmir after Cesme.

The offer is valid even if we are not at the same age.

I will send you a PM with relevant contact info after my 15th message.

Hoping to meet you in Ionia.

Hi Can,

Thank you for your offer. You are right: my nick indicates my age :-) . Since Izmir is very close to Cesme, it is very likely that I will stop in Izmir. I will be very glad to share some beers with you. We will keep in touch.

Best regards,

Ramon

Good news Ramon!

We can discuss your route on a map even in Cesme when you get there. It's only 30-40 miles from where I live and I can bring a good map of Turkey.

Keep in touch. I will send you my contact info with PM.

Route?

Hi twin-rider,
You don't mention the route? Where will you be coming from? After Turkey going where?

Can be sure you'll like and enjoy Türkiye too much. People are nice, friendly and helpful here.
Where in Türkiye? To me :
1. Definitely you must see Istanbul
2. If you have time Gallipoli. Then you can pass from Bursa.
3. Cappadoccia area (I am very close)
4. Eastern Turkey (around Van) (if you have time)
5. If you are fond of nature and mountains Eastern Black Sea Coasts (Rize, Ayder, Trabzon, Macka, etc)

need more info pls. don't hesitate,:thumbup1:

Gday Ramon and Can

Mate we are not as old as you gus (but pushing close) one of us is 55 and the other 44 (both Australians, but dont let that put you off)

At this stage we plan to spend the month of August in Turkey.

We are riding two Triumph Tigers (1999 and 2000) from Korea to Germany and are currently in Mongolia. Our visa for Russia expires the 1 August so we plan to catch a balck sea ferry to Turkey.

Would also love to catch up with you both for a beer and plan routes.

Cheers brett and dave

Sorry

Hi Brett, Hi Dave;

Sorry guys but the number "65" in my case does not indicate my age but the year of birth. Anyway, you will be welcomed by this young Ionian when you are in Turkey. I can send you possible best motorcycling routes if you ask me to.

I will send you my contact info with PM soon.

Hoping to meet you sometime somewhere in August. Until then, don't hesitate to contact me for anything related to your plans in Asia Minor.

Good rides

Hi all,

The same applies for me: I was born in August 14, 1965. So I'm now 40 and I will celebrate my birthday in Turkey.

Hope that we will be able to meet somewhere. It is nice to have so many people to share beers. I hope I don't get drunk ;-)

See you in Turkey

Ramon

I have just bought the tickets for the ferry to Cesme. I'm arriving there on July 27 (late at night). The 28 I will be on Izmir.

Now I'm planning the rute in Turkey. I will stay 24 full days there. My idea is a round tour incuding Pamukkale, Cappadoccia, Nemrut Mt., the east and the Black sea. I have a first version of the route at:
http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7...1600/Ruta2.jpg

I'm not going to Istambul this time. I have been there and it is easy to go there by plane at any time.

Can, if you are in Izmir the 28/29, we can meet there. I can not send PM (few posts). Is it possible for you to send a PM or an e-mail to me? I would like to ask you some questions that can be somewhat off-topic in this thread.

Brett & Dave: Hope that our routes cross somewhere.

Any other people in Turkey in August?
