Around Malaysia then off to Indonesia

Howdy Y'all

I'm currently in Georgetown on Penang, Malaysia. Awaiting my bike to be serviced and sourcing some new tyres as well as getting information on shipping to Indonesia. I plan to head towards the Cameron Highlands within the next few days then down to KL. Maybe other places too...

I was thinking of getting back to Penang in about a month's time. Is anyone about in Malaysia who needs to get to Indonesia?

Duncan

Hey Duncan, i'm currently in George Town and heading to Indonesia. Wanted to know if you have already headed over there and if so how you did it..? Also wondering where you got your bike serviced in George Town as all the places i've tried so far only do scooters.

Cheers,
Jamie

Hi Jamie.

I'm already on Pulau Weh off Northern Sumatra.

I shipped across with Cakra Shipping. Panomoto * Around The World by motorcycle motorbike has full details of the shipping company. I have no complaints.

I got my bike serviced at a KTM dealers on Penang but there are other places. Racing Mate is an accessory shop near the big shopping centre, Comptar?!?!

Most people seem to go to KL to Sunny Cycles. He's well known.

There should be some other bikers possibly joining you for the ride across.

Duncan

We can recommend KTM Planet Cycle Shop.

No 363K, Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah
11700 PENANG

- Tel : +604-6553435
- Fax: +604-6576074

N5 22.366 E100 18.536

You pay Western prices, though.

We can not really recommend the Kawa shop in Butterworth: we asked them for a service and all they did is change the oil & filter. I even had to ask them to clean the air filter.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
