Wanted: partner(s) from Switzerland for trips

Hi folks!

I don't have specific plans yet but I can hear something's out there calling (and I seriously hope it's not the midlife crisis )

Although the silk road sounds good, I don't care too much where to go, the most important is TO GO.

Maybe next year, maybe the year after, depending on the destination and the time we need for planning.

I would like to meet other folks who feel the same - will be happy to hear from you!

Hi,

Glad to hear someone else is having the same thought ! So I have decided to jump straight in with a circumnavigation of africa starting around aug/sept 2010 and possibly taking a good year to achieve !

I hoping my journey will take me across europe (via switzerland and austria) for the syria/jordan route At present I'm in the initial planning stage and looking for good roads, places to stay, travel companion(s) etc.

Hi Louise

Hi there

I'm from Namibia but have been living in the UK for the past 12 years, and I also want to do a trip from the UK through Africa down to Namibia, maybe even down to Cape Town in SA. I have a BMW 1100gs and 1150gs and am still making my mind up as to which one to take, and which one to sell.

I'm also looking for travel companions, and advice etc.

I live in New Barnet, North London.

Carl

Excellent, I was in Namibia a few years ago (2006) ! Spent 3 weeks driving around and really enjoyed it, think thats why i want to really want to see more of africa!

Have done plenty of 'regular' travel but nothing that involved a motorbike, only learnt last year and decided to jump right in with a circumnavigation of africa, unfortunately I'm still a complete novice with regards to mechanics ! Attended both BMW off-road school and mechanics course this year

Hoping to hook up with others whether they want to go all or just part of the way ! Will be at Ripley for UK travelers meet in June 2010 to gather last minute info.

At present following a friend who has started his London to Cape Town trip (eastern route), hopefully he will be feeding me back info. As for which bike to take, cant help you there I'm afraid - which ever is worth the least to help with carnet costs

Hi everybody....joining the club!!!
I have done several trips but my wife had enough for the moment
The plan is next summer I am free

So the first crazy Idea is the following:
There is a tour operator organizing a trip around the Stans, I would buy only the one way bike transport to Uzbekistan, get their help for custom clearance and come back on my own
Ok this is the bright Idea, the bad part is that I'm not really willing to get in to trouble

any esotic place would be fine for me as long as the final destination is not Turkey, Georgia, Giordania, Armenia, Siria, Tunisia, Marocco....unless somebody is willing to try some offroading in there...

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
