Anyone in MOSCOW?

I am currently stuck in Moscow waiting for some new piston rings from Italy, are there any overlanders hanging about here who fancy a few nights on the tiles?

I have about had enough of museums and old buildings.... I WANT MY BIKE BACK!!!

Hi Henry,

I'm not in Moscow yet but will be looking for accomodation. You've obviously found somewhere you'd recommend for a few days stay?
We need an address for the visa application!
Hope you get your bike back soon.

Pooley.

Pooley, I stayed in a bunk house sort of thing. I can't remember the name of it but a bunch of aussies and europeans were there so it must be in the lonely planet!

Will try and dig out my diaries and see if the name of the place is in there.

Although almost always only local Russians, you will find a good crowd of guys and girls at the Moscow Off-Road Riders Club weekly get-together on Wednesday evenings at Cafe Piccasso (Кафе Пикассо) in Mikluko-Maklaya Ullitsa (Миклухо-Маклая Ул) in the south west of town. I forget the exact number, either number 13B or 15B - it is set back behind another building. Most there speak good English. Draught beer and a 'bikers meeting' discount on food prices.

I don't know what/where the 4X4 adventurers go - not my scene!

For company in evenings, you could try just to the north east of Kitai Gorod (Ктй-Город) Metro in the centre. There a quite a few bars and cafes (many have live music) and are popular haunts of English speaking ex-pats after work, although they are not necessarily 'travellers' in the HUBB sence.

Then, in desperation, there are ubiquitous "Irish Bars" around the place where again there will be original English speakers and Russians keen to improve their's!

Or if you are still waiting, I get back there in 3 or so weeks time!beer
