Right behind you

My bike flies from Panama to Bogota tonight on Girag, I'll pick it up Wednesday mid day. I should hit Cali Friday midday, solo on a KLR. Would enjoy some riding together for a while. My pace might be a bit brisk for some, am meeting my daughter in Lima on the 22nd.

Keep in touch if Cali on Friday is close to anyone.

Long way behind but coming south from LA

Hi I am solo about to continue my trip leaving LA tomorrow. Do you have any info ref shipping bike from Panama to Bogota? I will soon be needing to find shipping agents etc etc. Thanks.

The only airlines now is Girag for exactly $901.38US. I think they fly every day, no reservations needed, just ride to the cargo section of the airport, take off your windshield if you have a taller one, give them the cash and that's it. You can save a ton of dough if you plan ahead and find three other guys to share a container with. 24 hours to Cartegena, $1250 for the container, + 100 tie down fee per bike Then you fly for $380 on Copa. ust keep trying to find other riders on this site to arrive in Panama at the same time to split the container.

I took a boat and highly recommend it instead of flying, so far, the highlight of my trip. It's usually a few days in San Blas islands and cheaper.
I even made a little video about it so you can see it for yourself.

Hi Crawford,

we met in the foggy mountains - the german couple...

Arrived in Panama City today and will probably fly to Bogota on friday. So would be nice to know if there is anything special in Bogota (we go also with Gierag).

Are you still driving with Fernando ?

Have a good time,

Marcus & Mireille

Ricky: Sorry to hear about your iphone...

Good to hear from you two!

I have no interest in big cities, so I just drove straight out of Bogota.

Nice little road up over a mountain into Fusagasuga southwest from Bogota. There is a sign on the left to make a soft left off the main highway to get to this road.

I highly recomend La Ligna, the route from Ibague to Armenia. That road took me 2-1/4 hours. I have never seen blacktop switchbacks as tight as these. If semis scare you, prepare, it´s quite a ride. And steep!

Hope you two are having fun,
Crawford

Looks like I'll be leaving Tues morning if anyone wants to ride for a bit,
I've been staying at hostels and will camp if a place looks good.
I need to be in Quito by Mon/Tues though.
