Anyone in Chile now July 2012??

Hi all,

Have been in Santiago for more weeks than I want to think about now. Combination of waiting for my Chile docs and registration to come through and now we've hit July the border has been closed for a fair while now - open today but still have no docs so still can't leave!

Just wondering if anyone is around and looking to cross into Argentina too...any pass considered now, although I was really hoping to get into Mendoza and go up Ruta 40 into Bolivia. Also if someone is thinking of going straight into Bolivia I would be interesting in hearing that too.

Damn, I missed your reply! Sounds like we are/were heading the same way. Yeah I made it to Mendoza, epic trip! The only issue is my Padron is only not the full doco, but it got me through. When I got to Mendoza I ended up enrolling on a spanish course. I just finished today so am going to head north on Sunday (19/08).

I'm not exactly going fast cos I only have 200cc chinese copy I bought in Santiago but I think I should get to Bolivia in hopeful less than 2 weeks. I want to check out a bit of the Bolivian Amazon and after now sure? What are your plans?

Any tips/places going north? I have a tent so was just gonna pitch up whenever I ran out of steam, but if you know of any sites would be good to know.

Cheers

Dave

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
