Anybody in Pakistan or in India now?

Hi we are a Barcelon's couple, we'll enter tomorrow into Paksitan and possible in 1 or 2 weeks we enter to India via Amritsar.
If there are somebody in the road tell us, and we can meet and travel together if you want!
Good road!

Now in Gilgit

Hi Franconian,
We are now in Gilgit, tomorrow we'll go to Chillas. About 8 we'll arrive in Islamabad and then we'll go to Lahore. To Islamabad through KKH, it's easy to find us, we ride a black Africa Twin. Which route do you ride?
Nice to meet you.

Hi Rumbalest,

I'm in Lahore now, as soon as I have my Iranian visa I ride up to Gilgit on the KKH. Which route did you take from Iran border?

I'm on a green Yamaha Tenere, hope to catch you on the road.

Cheers,
Frank

Pakistan is good country, Yeah !

Hi there,

Hope you're enjoying your time in Pakistan !

I Feel really sorry for the swiss poeple kidnapped. I wish they will be free very soon... All the poeple I met in Pakistan was very friendly and respectfull, and all travellers like this country and this poeple (more than India.. guess why !?)
But bad luck, like stupidy, is evrywhere...

Franck, About , I'm afraid you will have to reach Turquie before you can enjoy a proper for a descent prize.. But if you are in Internet Inn guest house in Lahore, Mr Malik will be very happy to give you the adress of official alcohol shop for pakistanese christians and foreigners... specially if you bring him back a few bottle of his favorite local wisky !!

Anyway, Take care, don't stop, even don't slow down, if someone try to make you stop on the road in the middle of nowhere(with or without escort, sometimes they look totally useless) and...ride faster than bullets !!!!

Cheers.

some current information

some other members of our club just entered İran and are on the way to Lahore and KKH. again..We have good friends there..A selam will bring you much support if you are a good man,non-alcholic; support and family stay for lonely woman bikers...
just received some information and advices from friends in Pakistan...If there is someone in Lahore and İslamabad, ask ME for their personal contact cellphone numbers with inf.about you and your bike..(ALREADY GOT THEIR OK.FOR THAT)
Good country with friendly, good people..Certainly best part of a long distance ride in that part of our world.Interesting, exciting, unforgattable and respectful civilisation, natura and way of life worth to discover...

Best Wishes
zeki.

Your friend is coming? Good good. It has been a while since we last hosted a foreign biker in lahore. Do let me know of his travelling dates. And do advise him not to leave police escorts in sensitive areas. Inteligence agencies are very active nowadays, they will pick up and interogate any foriegner in highly sensitive areas without police escorts. So please advise him to kindly follow all instructions from border police to avoid any unpleasentaries.

he is my club's guest. We treat all of the foreign riders the same way. I wish more and more riders came to my country and spread the word of how wonderful their stay had been.
We are building a hall room for overland travelers to come and stay for free (we already have disclosed this to Burak and Ismail) and InshAllah one day food and lodgement will be for free there for as many as we can accommodate.

Thanks for your advises!

I can collect my Iranian visa tomorrow and head up north in 2 days. Apparently all liquor licences have been cancelled, will try the local Arrak in Gilgit . I liked the Indonesian Arrak, but it caused a heavy headache...

@Zeki:
I was looking for new tyres in Lahore. Front 90/90/21 , Rear 130/80/17 or anything else in 17"...
I was offered some Thai made IRC tyres, but the price seems to be quite high (front 2500 Rs / rear 7000 Rs).
Do you have any recommendation or contacts? Should I try Islamabad/Rawalpindi?

@Mat:
Are you still in Pokhara ;-)

Cheers,
Frank

Hi Rumbalest,

It's funny we did not meet on the road. I took the Babusar Pass the same day as you. When I stopped for a tea one guy said he saw me earlier the day going the other direction with a pillion.

All the best!

Frank

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
