East African Route Autumn 2006....?

Hi Guys,

Looking to do this route later on this year, leaving around September time and going all the way to Cape Town. I will have just come back from a marathon tour of the west coast but not by bike. Next will be on two wheels. I am flexible but a bike novice but that doesn't scare me off! Anyone interested or in the region around the time I'll be coming through who wants to meet up?

30 something, having a long career break and not set to any kind of rigid scedule or anything like so please get in touch if you are interested.

Travelling through Libya this autumn

We are travelling to Capetown this autumn 2006 starting mid october. We are going Tunisia, across libya to Egypt and then down east coast. We have organised a 'tour' through Libya and are looking for 2 more motorcyclists to share the cost. We have used this route before and know the company we are using so it will happen and work. We are purely transiting Libya and have asked for it to be a quick traverse ie 3 days. The country is flat and the roads are excellent for doing a transit. We believe this is the cheapest way to begin the trip south from Egypt.

good plan - same as mine!

Hi
Doing the same route at the same time! (Great minds and all that). Using a 640 adventure…

Give me a call on 07726938378 if you want as it might be worth having each others details at the very least, also to do sections where security could be an issue etc

Regards
Ian

Africa east route

Hello!

I'm also leaving in -probably the second week of- september. Going To Cape Town via the east route.
I'm riding a Tenere 34L. Have been to Africa before, but not by bike. So it will be quite an experience.
I'm keen on meeting up along the way, would be great! Maybe we can all meet in, let's say, early October, Cairo for example? What do you think?

Drop me a line at: agroenevelt [at] gmail.com

Must be easy to meet up somewhere since we're all leaving at the same time, doing the same route.

Cheers,

Arthur (Flatlander)

ps @Alex I'm not a very experienced off roader / traveller too, but I am an automotive engineering teacher / mechanic so bike problems shouldn't be a problem, I can help you along the way if you need any help.

Smile Looking to group up for Egypt thro Sudan

Hi guys

We (Paul and Sandi) are currently en route doing a UK to SA trip. We are in Turkey right now.

We are hoping to meet up with some other bikers for the Egypt - Sudan leg in particular. We intend to be in Egypt by early October all going well, via Syria and Jordan. We each have a BMW F650GS and neither have much off road experience (just a bit and BMW school training).

After Sudan we continue down east coast and then start making zig-zags after Kenya. Will spend a while in Uganda.

Would really like to form a group - safety in numbers and more of us to look out for other. So please get in touch if your plans are similar. If by phone please text Paul on UK number 07966 246007 or Sandi on 0770 4600751.

Also take a look at our website to find out more about our trip: www.long-way-home.com

Best regards
Paul and Sandi

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
