Any Turks on a RTW

hi all,

I am wondering did anyone meet any Turkish person who is doing/have done RTW with a Turkish passport and Turkish number plated motorbike?

I am planning a RTW as a Turk and if I will be the first that would an advantage for me to find a sponsorships in Turkiye.

Thanks

Unfortunately very low .... very very low ....

BUt of course if you have done overland trips before, and been in publications ... then you might have a chance ....

As for if someone had done this before .... yes.

Good luck ,

thanks for encouraging me ;)

the biggest failure is not to try!!

The fact that you do not know, despite doing research, is a sign that a Turkish RTW is a story untold. So there you have a first-man benefit anyway.

Good luck.

hi again,

i ve done england to turkiye last april. actually i intended to go to middle east but the bike has been broken just after i've crossed asia (near izmit) and i've given it up. it was a good experiance for me.

my rtw plan is for a year. i have serious time restriction. now i am doing the routing and the documantation. next step will be the budget. all this prep might take more than a year (including finding sponsors). also, i need a decent bike, i am still looking and compering the bikes. most probably i'll get a 600 or 650 cc one.

i would be happy if you could share your and the guy who did the RTW details.

thanks in advance

There is someone

Hi Ozhan,

I met someone who says (also printed in a mag) he done the RTW trip with the sponsorship of Yamaha. He is a motorbike items selling man besides selling secondhand bikes.
When I told him I thought may be his brother did the trip, he listened from him and say he did it. Some stories is ver comic like having no map and asking route from some German people who were alsobikers. They wanted to give one of the maps, because they were in Greece just for weekend and had two or three maps. Infact we should applaud him for making a RTW trip like this. If you want to learn more, pls let me know. I can scan some of the story and the route and send you. There is much to learn from it.

Being first Turk doesn't mean lot to me. Ok let's accept you did it. Then...
That man did it and I laugh everytime when I remember some of his stories.
He has ridden to Europe first, then USA. Followed the route of the sun as you can easily understand. I think if I do it, I make the opposite.

If I can organise leaving some time for it, I am intended to make trip to Greece-Makedonia-Montenegro-Bosnia-Croatia-Slovenia-Italy-Greece-TR. I can have only 9 days but it needs more than 12-13 days. Don't know what to do.

Take care and try to do it...

Sami

hi sami,

thanks for reply. i am still working out about the route. it takes really time.

being the first... this is only important for findng sponsorships and not me. it might be easier to get some money in that way.. anyway, i have some other plans aswell to find sources:)

be sure that i'll have all the maps that i need and maybe gps too :):)

hope you can do your trip soon. i did most of the europa and now i wanna see the world.

take care.
