Alps and Dolomites from september 28th to october 5th
 

Hello people at home or on the road,

I'm Frederic from Belgium, 29 and looking for a companion to do a trip to the Swiss, Austrian and Italian Alps and Dolomites from september 28th to october 5th.

The plan is to travel from Belgium pretty quickly trough Luxembourg and France to arrive on saturday evening in Lausanne where we can stay at a friend's house, where we can rest from a long day on the road.

The next days we 'll do a lot of passes as the famous Stelvio and Susten pass. On the way back we will pass by Martigny where we will have (hopefully) a beautiful look over the Mont Blanc.

We will do wild camping and some offroad as well.

This week I'm gone from home for my job so I'll only be able to reply next weekend to your messages.

Nice riding ahead, just did going North of Mont-Blanc from Annecy to Martigny and Col du Grand St-Bernard, Val d'Aoste, Iatlian lakes to Simplon Pass, then to Furka Pass, across the Grisons, back thru Engadine and up again to Oberalp passing by Susten, just to give the picture for a 1900 km in the Alps. I did the Dolomites early July, very very nice indeed, but far from Lausanne.

I'd recommend not to underestimate the time it really takes to travel thru passes. I trust you really want to stop at some point and just enjoy the view, stretch and get warm. End Sept early Oct can be quite chilly up there, and depending on the weather, some passes may already be closed. I rode alone at my own rhythm, easy on lunches and could hardly beat 400 km / day. There are construction works, trucks, villages in which you can only ride at 30 km/h, few cattle / sheep herds crossing, and danger at every corner.

I did the already the Alps on previous travels but more like riding through them on my way to Slovenia - Hungary and Italy, so I know what you mean!

This will be the first time do I'll stay in the Alps, if it's not raining every day of course. In that case I'll continue more south to Corsica or so, my first destination by motorbike when I was 21.:mchappy:
