where are you leaving from? where are you going? and when are you going? I am heading across to Perth and the south western area of western australia in early may 2002. leaving from jervis bay @ 200k's south of sydney. total distance across is about 4100k's and expect to do it in 4 / 6 days. but i must be in margaret river on a set date for a meeting - work related

Hi there,
I'll be starting driving around Ozzie in the beginning of May. Want to stay away from the sealed roads as much a possible. Want to cross Simson and with do Canning stock route. But need at least two people for that. If interested give me a mail.

See ya,

Roland

Roland - you will need more than a couple of people to cross the area you are talking about. Try to contact an aussie mag called two whells. i recall they had a series of articles about desert crossing. dont be fooled - people get seriously dead in that part of australia. as a start why not try the birdsville track or the strezlecci track they run north south in central australia

A rider perished a few years ago just north of the Strzelecki track. Between Innamincka and Birdsville. He was well equipped but was beaten by heat exhaustion. Found dead.

Lots of people do the desert trips every year but none of the real desert trips should be taken lightly. Avoid the summer and don't travel alone.

I've ridden around the Innamincka Strzelecki track area in September, which was fine. But I would never tackle it alone.
