I'm still working out the kinks in my plans, but I may be in your neck of the woods about then. My goal is to make a North/South America circle tour around the coasts leaving out of San Antonio (a straight shot south of you on I-35), going around to Key West, up to Labrador, across the UP on US-2, then through Duluth enroute to Prudhoe Bay. My alternate route would take me south to be in Brazil for the Cup first, which would preclude MN in June. Unfortunately, that would probably put me crossing the Andes in Patagonia around Sep 2014, and in the Canadian/Alaskan Rockies around Dec 2014, which sounds like a horrible idea on any form of motorcycle. If hitting the Arctic Circle first wins, I'll let you know.

A friend and I are leaving San Diego for Inuvik (and possible other points) on July 3rd, returning by August 2nd -- more or less.

We'll be on big ADV bikes but we're old and slow. More or less.

Planning to camp most of the time but we plan to add some hotels in there when we get too stinky for our own good.

Posting our plans and route here and on ADV.

Maybe we'll see you out there!

Dan

Peter,

I am planning on leaving from Edmonton, AB heading to Fairbanks on June 25th.
I already booked a ferry from Whittier (Anchorage) to Juneau on June 30th.
I know it may be too much work in a short amount of time...
Let me know!
Frank

Just out of curiosity, where/when are you leaving Juneau? Not a lot of roads to explore in Juneau, beautiful country though.

Yes, bring a good camera. I just cruised down that way last September, and I'm very much looking forward to being back in that part of the world. I don't have a definite time table yet but was planning on taking the ferry down from Prince Rupert. I'll be in touch as things get closer. Cheers!

Mrs Fox and I are heading that way in May, Starting with two weeks in Vancouver Island at the end of april we expect to head to fairbanks via the top of the world highway in May if it's open.

If you pass through whistler on your way give us a shout and we can go for some

PS we were looking at ferry prices Juneau to Prince Rupert for two bikes and 2 of us it seemed to be $750, and there wasn't an option not to take a cabin. (Just a heads up so you're prepared)

Peter, are you planning an up and back ride? If so, what is your total length of trip (in days). I was thinking of riding up myself this summer. Given my location I could easily truck my bike up to MN and ride out from there. I have a day job though and need to know the time frame and then see if I can clear it.

I plan to leave the end of June. No exact date yet, but plan on taking 3 weeks off from work. I'll be riding up and back from AZ on a 1200GS and camping as much as possible to save $$.

Check out the university in Fairbanks for accommodation if you want to get out of the tent for a night.

Yes, good beds and cheap! We stayed there on our way up and back to Deadhorse in July 2013.

3 weeks may be tight. Had friends from Toronto meet me here in Edmonton and we went up. Dawson City, Top of the world, Tok, Valdez, Delani, Fairbanks, Deadhorse, Fairbanks, Edmonton. 3735 km one way from here. If you come through Edmonton give me a call. I am departing for Ushuaia on Aug 30th.
