Australia across outback Cooktown - Melbourne in oct-nov

I'm looking for another set of wheels to join me on an adventure outback ride. I already started travelling on my KLR650 from Brisbane to Cooktown. In 3 or 4 weeks I will arrive there and thought about heading on towards Ayers Rock and Adelaide - Melbourne. Tasmania is planned for January.
Any other ideas for trips in these regions are most welcome. I got all the camping equipment to have some nice time on a campfire in the bush and can flexibly change dates.
Travelmates for parts of that trip welcome!
I'm looking forward to have a chat with you about that idea. Feel free to call me on my australian mobile no. 0410968146 or mail me at andi.dundee@at@gmail.com.
Cheers, Andi

Google Maps

4,297 km – about 2 days 3 hours west, a fair bit out of your way, but if you have time well worth it f you love out back camping - Karijini National Park, Millstream NP to name a few nice places

Are you heading up to Darwin or straight to Alice as I heard they have had a bit of rain in NT

I thought about going straight to Alice Springs after Cairns/Cooktown just to get along before the heat and the wet. But I might change that once I experienced the weather up there.
Anyway you're right, the region of Karijini NP is not exactly on my way )
So I'd say I will let you know if I come to this part of australia. By now I got some very good recommendations about western australia.
I hope I can make it there, thanks for your offer!

Hi Andi

Hi Andi,

I'm new to all this (hopefully buying a bike in next week or two - probably only a postie, though ), but am hoping to drive from Brissie to Melbourne, and then do a little tour of Tassie in December ...

If you have the time, I'd love to hear about your stories, and maybe ask some questions...

Cheers,

Tanya

Hey Tanya

Feel free to ask whatever you want. I will start my trip to Alice Springs pretty soon so it might take some time until I am able to reply after that.

By the way I didn't find anyone to travel with me yet ...

So if anyone readsthis and is interested, feel free to contact me

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
