2 weeks Europe with enduro training

Hi,

I'd like to do some off-road training with BMW in Germany/Hechlingen for 2 days this summer (prices are about £400 inc food & bike-rental (GS650 or GS1200), a bit cheaper with own bike).
Here's some videos & pics from the training facilities:

Thinking about biking down there, spend 2 days with BMW, then a detour into the Alps and visit Touratech & do some shopping there on the way back.

May or June would be ideal. Anyone interested - please send me a PM.

Cheers
Bjorn

(Btw: I'm a German/live in London - so communication in Germany is no issue, and the training can be done in English)

Pay the extra

Paying a little bit more for using their bikes will take a load of pressure off you doing the course on your bike. Just about everyone in my class dropped their bikes; one or two crashed their bikes hard. The cost to fix damage to your bike could easily be more than the extra fee. Like the Mastercard commercial, piece of mind, knowing that if you break it, it isn't coming out of your pocket, is priceless.

BTW: bikes have to be street legal, because they ride off the property on public roads - so mirrors, turn signals and the like are required - and the most likely bits to bust off in a drop.

Besides, no better way to test ride something different.

Change of Plans - no more BMW but Zitzweitz in North Germany

Hi,

Thanks to a recommendation from 2 Hubbers on last week-end's London meeting in the Ace Cafe, I've found a cheaper and apparently better & more fun Enduro Training in North Germany near Kiel.

I'll be going there for the 18-21 May course, taking the ferry on the 16th (11pm) from Harwich to Hook van Holland, followed by a 1-day ride up to Kiel.
I'm thinking of going up to Denmark/Sweden/Norway after the enduro training for one week & take the ferry back from Stavanger to the UK. Got friends in Oslo and Stavanger who could possibly accomodate.

Anyone interested?

Cheers
Bjorn

Ferry Trip

Have you thought about the ferrry from Harwich to Esjberg then the road trip is as simple as you can get and a lot quicker. You can also drop in for a coffee on the way past my house.

Hi Bjorn
Can't make your dates but am interested in the training course near Kiel. I did Hechlingen a couple of year s ago and it was worth every penny. I did it on one of their R115GSA's rather than use my own bike and it was definitely worth paying a bit more because you will drop the bike . I did 3 days and on the first day, first hill I dropped it and it took a big tumble - I was very pleased it wsn't my bike. Several people on R1200GS's holed their valve covers and there were more than a couple of waterlogged flooded engines during the 3 days too. If youwant to learn to ride a big heavy GS off road it's the only place to go. If you want more general off road traing then there are lots of places available all over Europe but Hechligen taught me things about my bike and how to handle the big GS that I am sure I could never know by playing on a 400cc Jap enduro bike. It also teaches some very useful roadcraft skills including extreme emergency braking - locking up the front wheel and skidding the back .....awesome stuff. I can't recommend it enough.

Hi guys,

Thanks for the tips. I appreciate your input on the BMW workshop, but I'm pretty settled for N-Germany now. Not sure what comes after that (Scandinavia or France).

Steve: Thanks for the ferry recommendation, but the ferry is over £150 one way. Harwich to Hoek van Holland is only £60 one way. Thanks for the invite for a coffee - I might pop around on my way to Copenhagen ;)

Take it easy
Bjoern

You would be welcome

You would be welcome for a coffee or even an overnighter on your way to Copenhagen. I live about 10 minutes from the E45 the motorway from Germany up through Denmark. I am about and hour from the German border. I live very close to Haderslev, look it up on the map. when I get enough posts on here I will message you my e mail address.

Steve.
