You'd be glad your bike wasn't on this ferry...

Bet there weren't many people enjoying a meal in the restaurant on that trip :D Total carnage :eek3:certainly not a nice thing to come down to the car deck and find your car/bike crushed !

Mike,
I was on this ship earlier this year; it is the Norrona which runs around the North Atlantic, operated by the Smyril Line. It must have been pretty scary; the north Atlantic is rough on calm day even when the engines are running.

The worst accident I have had was on a Norwegian ferry, a hydraulic pipe broke when they went to open the doors. Thankfully it was before passengers went down to the vehicle deck so no one was hurt but everything was covered in oil. Luckily for me I had left my helmet the right way up otherwise it would have been full of oil. They had the bike steam clean for me.

I would rather ride a 1000 miles than take a ferry.

I did a google once on ferry accidents and there are plenty around the world. After the Herald of Free Enterprise went down the European rules became stricter for the operation and specification of ships. The old ships which were too expensive to upgrade got sold the developing world.

Err... except for the channel. I think it's more scary to take the tunnel to Britain :-(

Thanks for passing that on ...its disgusting how little the London based media will report about anything north of Watford. They are so much up their own a***.

I love the irony of them having to dock at Lerwick for repairs !! I'd have sent them back to Bergen

Indeed so - still "for those in peril on the sea" etc.

Maybe they will reinstate the ferry service after the good service they received in Lerwick!? :rolleyes2:

bike sex man!!!

:oops2:
While checking out the link to this story on the BBC news page, take a look at the story ‘Bike sex man placed on probation’ ……it’s a corker! Cleaners, upon knocking at the mans hotel door received no answer so they used a ‘master’ key and upon entering the room found a 51 yr old man wearing just a vest(and a smile?) Simulating sex with a bike, the 2 cleaners were said to have been ‘extremely shocked’ …..Why?
Was it because the guy was not wearing protection?
Because bikes are not allowed in the rooms?
The bike was underage?
The only thing my warped sense of humour can see he did wrong was that he did not put the ‘DO NOT DISTURB’ sign outside his door!

  :eek3:

Here's Dave's "story" before it disappears from the BBC webpages:-

Guest2 15 Nov 2007 10:08

His idea of a threesome is a tandem.

palace15 15 Nov 2007 10:13

bike

Is the bike a cockney?

If so, it may have a 'peddle and crank' :helpsmilie:

palace15 16 Nov 2007 09:40

nothing perverted

The cleaners turned out to be short sighted, the man in question was in fact wearing skin coloured lycra and the vest he was wearing was was actually Yellow and he was a just a 'Tour de France' stage winner giving a 'sample' for the anti-doping committee. With bullshite like ths perhaps I should have been a Lawyer?
