Over the millenium I had a few articles published by them. After they "lost" 60 of my best pictures (in the days before digital), I now prefer "M/C Sh*t and W*nk". The editor at the time was Peter Henshaw.

I had a subscription bought as a present three years ago. For a while they did OK so I renewed. Then it went all "600cc sportsbike four way comparative tests" and "New R1200GS in Scotland" followed by "four way GS comparative test in Scotland" so I stopped paying. Still better than MCN, but the gap was narrowing fast !

There should be a real market out there for a riders magazine. Trouble is it'd cost £5 a go as soon as someone wrote that product X leaks or product Y was really no different to last years

try the Riders Digest. It's London based, and used to be available only in London. But now it's distributed across the UK. It's free, but you may have to contact them to find out where to get it near you.

So no pot shots at our fair weather compadres, just a little advice: try worrying a little less about riding in the rain. Depressing as the torrential variety we’ve seen so much of this ‘season’ might seem if you get caught in it, it won’t actually kill you or cause you any permanent harm; and if you’re around when it clears, you might just find yourself – as I did when I was in the Horseshoe Pass – confronted by a spectacular rainbow splashed across a breathtaking landscape.

When I was last in the the UK in '03 I attended the BMF show.

if you look at the features of the main magazines, they are all the same each month. '600c shoot-out', 'new R1 compared to old R1', '1200GS ridden to Scotland', etc, etc. All magazines tend to have the same review subjects in the same months.

But once you get bored of that, you tend to notice that the articles have a 12-month cycle too. So, we get 'how to ride in the wet' every October edition (in all magazines). We get 'how to ride in the dry' every March. 'how to plan a big trip' every January, with a 'big trip' being France.

If you actually ride a lot, there is no news in them.

Fast Bikes used to be good (Collin Schiller days), but it was then sold to the main publisher that holds all the other magazines and is now just a clone with a different title.

Riders Digest seems to be a little different, for now. A bit like the old Fast Bikes, in style and originality. Riders Digest used to be left on motorbikes that were parked up in London. I always used to rely on getting my copy when I returned to the bike in the NCP near Bishopsgate. They have a travel interest, and did the classic Dakar in a very haphazard way. They are worth supporting.

Motorcycle voyager only lasted a few months, I belive Peter Henshaw of MS&L was involved in it.........that's the mag that was aimed squarely at bike travellers, just didn't sell so it folded. I seem to recall it took quite a few people's cash with it in subscriptions. Pity, it wasn't a bad read.

spot on, I paid my money for a one year subscription and it lasted two mags: now, when I come across a bike journo, he/she gets a punch in the mouth: no offence meant, none taken. That's the way it is. Right.

Excellent! I can get it from Hein Gericke when I wobble down there on Sunday (weather permitting) for my latest race rep. leathers and aerosol wheel shine spray.

you are probably best getting a subscription, mate. they post it to you, so no need to even take off those fluffy slippers...
