Website to record travels.

Hi All,

Next year I'm doing a overland adventure and I have decided I want a website that I can blog on, add photo's, give information that other people may find useful.

A simple homepage, a prep page, a simple day by day travel page, a contact page, a thank you page.

Really simple, but it would be nice to have some small adverts on it to cover the cost of the website.

What companys do you guys use? I have seen the 1 and 1 personal websites and wonder if that would be suitable.

Thanks, using wordpress, good idea. Will likely use the 99dollars / year package as it will give everything I need.

Google Sites is free and really easy to use too. Can be limited on how many pictures you can post, but you can link to Picassa etc.

My example here: https://sites.google.com/site/poorat...ratrek-triumph

Travel Journal

You could also use Everlater. Free Travel Blog - Journal Websites with Maps and Diaries – Everlater is a travel journal that allows maps, photos etc. no limit to the number of photos or posts, people can leave comments, cut and paste or type direct, etc and it can be accessed from any computer connected to the net. You can if you wish have the log turned into a book by them as well but I didnt use that feature I used Blurb instead.

I use blogger for my own blog. It's a bit clunky, but it does the job. You can have a main page that you update and several static pages that you can use for contact details, background, policies, messages etc. comments possible too. As far as I know, you can have unlimited number of pictures, and you can load them direct or store them on another site and link to them. It's free.

I'm a bit of a technical dunce so Iain Harper (keen HUBBer and HU activist) set mine up for me. Repeated cafe wifi bandwidth issues have stopped me getting many pics onto it, but it works great for the blogs

Will try and get some pictures of delhi engine rebuild and the rest of the trip up soon, I promise!
