transferring fuel...

I'm about to embark on a five week solo tour of Mexico with the stock, rather smallish, (3.3 gallons) gastank on my bike. I think I will probably be OK, however I would like to be somewhat prepared should I run out of fuel. Assuming I can flag down a vehicle and persuade them to give me some fuel, how is the best way to transfer it to my tank? Are there any small manual or 12v pumps available? My Dad recently was diagnosed with a form of cancer that the doctors say could be attributed to benzene exposure. Because of that, I do not want to suck on a hose to initiate a siphon and expose myself to gas fumes. I've been a little more careful about not breathing the fumes while fueling my bike at the gas station also. Any suggestions?

There are special syphoning hoses available with a rubber ball in the middle to create the vacuum. So you don't need to suck on the hose. But carry a one liter plastic bottle with you for this purpose. Don't count of the drivers carrying one. An empty plastic water bottle will do.
