To tengai or not to tengai

I have just passed my DAS bike test here in
the UK and have happily sold the scooter and have been offered an 1990 650 kwak tengai - in very good condition (an Italian import with 14,000 kmh on rhe clock) – for £1,600? It's very clean and well preserved...Am I being had? I want to do my forst trip across europe to greece and then onto cyprus to see family? Is this bike any good ( for I am clueless, and think I should go for something else as no one seems to mention this model). learned advice and thoughts on this matter gratefull received

I had a 1989 Tengai about 10 yrs ago. Toured Europe as far south as Granada Spain from Sheffield, UK. The bike never missed a beat. Returned 60 mpg easily and cruised at 70-80 mph no probs. It felt a little gutless once above 85. Didnt offer much wind/rain protection. Accomodates top box and soft luggage easily. It loved the twisty and gravel bits!
The engine is same as KLR 650 and spares still shouldnt be a prob to find. Listen for piston slap, and camchain noise. You have loads of other options to go for in that price range, so dont limit yourself.
Good Luck.
