They decided to end their trip in Nepal - flew home from there. I did a similar trip in 2008.

Hi 900fantrider, Chris, Kenny & Richard,

Yes I do still lurk around the HUBB from time to time! Thanks for your concern guys, makes me glad to be part of the HU community to know we do look out for each other. Glad you enjoyed our blog.

So, what happened to us after Nepal? Well... we made a decision not to ride home through SE Asia (mostly time & money) and decided instead to ship the bike from Kathmandu to Perth (WA) while we went to Thailand for a few weeks backpacking. We finally picked up the bike after doing battle with Aus customs over our out-of-date carnet and our Nepal made crate with some bark still on the some of the framing! We then rode the 5000km home to Brisbane over about 1 month sightseeing quite a few places we hadn't been to before.

While travelling across Aus we stayed mostly in country areas with no internet cafes, then when we arrived home we were busy visiting friends & family we hadn't seen for 18 months, move our stuff back into our house & looking for a job, then getting a job and having to move 2 hours north, buy and sell houses etc etc. For quite a while we didn't have internet at home - long story - so by the time we had internet at home and time to finish our blog, we simply thought our blog was out of date and not really of any interest to anybody anymore.

However, now I think we were wrong about this as we have had numerous emails over last 2 years asking what happened to us and why our blog finished abruptly. All I can say is sorry guys.

I know it seems like we just fell of the radar, but the good news is that Alanna & I have been working hard to get enough money together to do it all again, probably in about two years (sooner if possible), this time probably to South & Central America for a year or so. The travel bug doesn't go away, it just gets you more hooked.

Thanks for your thoughts,
Regards
John & Alanna

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
