Store bike to e.g. hike for a week.
 

Hello people,

I'm planning to do a year tip from the Netherlands to Indonesia.
As I'm traveling slowly, I wonder how you people store your bike for a few days. For example, let's say you want to hike the 2 weeks Anapurna circuit in Nepal. Or, you want to check out a city for a week by foot. What to do with your bike? Where can you store it safely? Hostel? Hostel? Campsite?

great question! i have been contemplating the same question for my upcoming trip in March.
I hope you get some actual information on the subject. I have spent the past 30 minutes trying to get other info and pretty much was a waste of time except i enjoy reading all the smart assed answers as well as the sometimes comical answers that have nothing to say. :mchappy:

I have left mine at hotels before now, sometimes they charge, sometimes not but it helps to have stayed there first. When a group of 5 of us walked the Inca trail we rented the cheapest one bed room between us and stored our stuff there which entitled us to park our bikes in the courtyard, it worked out at about $2 a day each although that was a few years ago now.
If in India and Nepal where foreign bikes can attract a lot of interest it helps to have a light cotton cover made which makes them invisible especially if left for a few days.

According to me the hotel manager should allow you to keep you bike in their parking as we are staying there and there will be no kind of risk for them and for you as well. You can contact them before if you need to be sure.
