Question Spanish / English Pocket Dictionary.

Preparing for my Central and South America KLR 650 ride in late Spetember. My Spanish is good enough to get a room and order a and ask where the bathrooms are. :=) Anyone have any suggestions/reviews/recommendations for a pocket English-Spanish dictionary for a little extra help? I purchased a VOX mini but it has no "phrase" help at all and I think that would be more important than just word translation. Anyone?

always use Collins Gem. presumably you can get them where you are. most words are translated within a context, eg. push: push on, drive, demand, to push for, etc, etc.

Post Lonely Planet

What a coincidence!

Today we picked up a Latin American Spanish phrasebook from Lonely Planet. It sounds like it is exactly what you need. It has phrases for everything from getting directions to border crossings. $8 at finer bookstores everywhere Or you can check out www.lonelyplanet.com.

Ekke, Thanks. I met a fellow that had one of those, that is why I realized that my VOX (a literal word translation) would not get it. I am going to hit the bookstores as soon as I can. Thanks again.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
