Shipping / receiving to places you will be

Does anyone know how I can ship/receive goods in foreign places? I need to ship some stuff to southern Turkey, where I will be in a few weeks. I know American Express has a service that facilitates this, but since I do not have an AMEX, I am SOL on that avenue. I need to ship some books to Gaziantep. But to where? Mailboxes etc.? Do they do this? Any other services?

Thanks for any info.

we have used the post office Poste Restraint system in Turkey. get hold of a Lonely Planet to get the post office details.
Also DHL would work as we have also used them but they tend to cost a lot more....but are more reliable/safe than the poste restraint system.

One thing to consider is whether the goods shipped will require custom fees to be paid and you're not there to receive/pay.

Argentina

Sorry for hi jacking the thread a little bit but would this be the similar option to get stuff sent out to me in Argentina from home, prob just a card and stuff. Get it send to the nearest post office, or have ppl used other options.

Poste Restraint SHOULD work anywhere in the world. we have even had it work in India ......and in more than one town in India !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We always used the Lonely Planet guide boioks to choose the post offices that we wanted our mail sent to.
