shipping a couple of bikes to Ireland

Whats the best way to ship bikes to Ireland. I was told they could not be shipped by sea because they are considered dangerous goods since they have already had gas added to them?
Can i just remove the tanks and ship the bikes and tanks seperately? I'm trying to avoid a 4000 plus bill to ship them over.

I think you should meet another shipping company.
Sounds like some burokratik bull....

Try looking at the shipping info on the left side of your screen:
Getting There
Air or Sea?
Shipping Co's
Shipments by Travellers

That will probably answer all your questions.

Hello,
I am currently riding my motorcycle from San Francisco to the East Coast and then I am going to ship in June to Dublin for the European leg of my RTW trip. I checked with a couple different frieght forwarding companies that would put them on a plane and handle all the details such as hazardous material transportation for about $1400 a bike. I found the cheapest way was to ship them out of Toronto or Montreal Canada with Gail from Motorcycle Services for $995. She can arrange it so you are even on the same plane as your bike and she will also help me with my insurance when I get there and anything else I need.
You can email me if you want any more info at josh@ridingtheglobe.com or check out my website www.ridingtheglobe.com
Good luck
Josh
