New member says hello!

Hello!

I just subscribed today. I searched for a skidplate for my Yamaha XT600E, when google directed me to this wonderfull site. What a wealth of information! Many thanks to all the people who give so many tips and help. I immediately subscribed.

Short info about myself: I live in the Netherlands and currently drive a Yamaha XT600E 2001. I drive motorcycles for 10 years now on a Honda Magna, Suzuki SP370 and currently the XT. traveling around the world has always been a dream for me. But untill now I don't have the guts to do so.

So I started small. First I went solo to Nortcape in 2005. Almost 13000 beautifull Km's through Sweden, Finland and Norway. This was a test if driving solo for 1 month was something for me. The answer was a big YES!

Then this summer I drove to Island for 1 month. An amazing country! Especcially the highlands are very very impressive. Now I want to travel even more.

Sow for this summer I plan to go to Romania, through Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and back through Bulgaria, Greece and Italia. I allready have found much information about Romania on this site. Thanks! Planning the trip truly is half the fun.

Currently I have Tesch panniers, and a Garmin GPS. For this trip I am planning to by a Acerbis 23L tank, and a skidplate. Every year I upgrade my travel gear somehow.

But enough about me. I continue reading now, through all the wonderfull stories and travel tips.

Best regards, Hans (newby in traveling and on this site)

Hi Hans,
Welcome aboard. Can you please tell me where the picture above was taken?

Thanks,
Norman

Hi Norman,

Thanks!
That picture was taken in Norway, near Tromsø, somewhere on the Road between Vollen (N69 34.585 E18 38.463) and Brensholmen (N69 35.244 E18 01.549) on 12 June 2005 on the way to the Lofoten. Beautiful road! I was lucky with the weather. Some more:

Is it allowed to put pictures like this between the text? And what are the recommended dimensions?

HI Hans

Welcome aboard.. I'm pretty new to this site too and already I've got loads of stuff from it. Its very good.
I'm from Ireland so If you ( or of course anyone else) are ever here make sure and stop by and we will look after you. We are 100 km south from Dublin.
I'm currently planning a trip from cape Town to Cairo next July and then on to Israel

Yes it's definitely allowed! :) There are limitations on how much total space your account has to post pictures, but that's it. If you have them somewhere else, and just link to them so they show here, there's no restrictions. If you post them directly here, (or even if they're from somewhere else) it's a good idea to make sure they're no bigger than about 490 pixels, or people have to scroll sideways to see the whole picture, and that sucks. Also large pictures suck a lot of bandwidth - and we don't have a lot extra.

Your method above of showing the thumbnails is excellent! Nicely done - and welcome to the HUBB - hope to see you at a Travellers Meeting this year.

Great stuff Hans! :clap:Too bad Norway is not on my planned 51 country trip :cursing: as it is quite "off" the planned route.
