Is Overland solutions Still Around?
 

Hi Guys, I am not sure if this is the right place for this post. But??

Is Ernie (sp?) of Overland solutions still around? I have emailed them several times and have called 2x time and nothing but answering machine.

If they do exist how do you get info from them or buy anything if you cant get a hold of them? Is thier website not really active? What about the phone?

If they dont: does anyone know a place that does something like OS's tank boxes for an AT?

He is a nightmare to get hold on.
After trying several months I ordered crashbars and a subframe few years ago.
When I had waited for six months the parts finally arrived but the subframe and one of the crashbars didn’t fit!
This time I waited 6-9 months (can’t remember but totally I waited longer then a year) and then the new parts arrived, the subframe leaned 2.5 cm to the side and it was twisted but at lest it was possible to bolt it on and the seat fitted. I tried to contact him to at least get the parts for a better price, but after a few weeks I gave up!

Quite a few people are satisfied with his work, maybe it’s better to show up in person?

I think that is enough for me to start looking else where... if he wants my money he will have to work for it.. NOT the other way around!

I think you really have to be knocking on his door and staying locally to get what you want..

He makes good stuff but hes not the only guy in the world who can weld steel... I find many people who specialise in making custom motorcycle metal work seem to charge a huge premium anyway. Im not sure why this is.

If theres bits I cant do myself, I just turn up at local metal working places with rough drawings and they will make almost anything you want to the same quality for a fraction of the price than some of the people and companies charge in the travel bike community.

I guess the only difference is the bike specialists will design it for you. Still, some of these guys charge 10x the amount as a normal smithy will. Worth it ???? Nope !
