International MC License

Anyone aware whether AAA in the states issues int'l driver licenses that specifically indicate a motorcycle endorsement? Haven't been too succesful in getting a response from AAA directly.

It has been a few years since I had one but AAA did have one with a motorcycle endorsement. Check it before you leave for the M/C endorsement. Sometimes they forget.

The design and format of the International Driver Permit is the same in all countries - there are 6 little boxes on the inside cover that can be stamped, and each box provides a specific endorsement (e.g. bus, truck, car with trailer, motorcycle, etc.).

All you need do when you go to get your IDP from your national issuing organization (e.g. AAA in America) is make sure that the issuing authority puts a stamp in each box appropriate to the endorsements you have on your local (national) driving permit. It's no more complicated than that.

Make sure also that they stamp your photograph in such a way that part of the stamp is on the photo, and part on the sheet that the photo is attached to. This is something that authorities in some Eastern European and African countries expect to see, but it is not a common practice in North America. The idea is to ensure that you cannot 'swap out' the photo later on and replace it with someone else's photo.
