Importing a US registered bike to UK?

Does anyone have any experience of importing a USA registered bike into the UK. I'm coming towards the end of my adventure and I am hoping to fly my Alaska registered bike from Kenya to the UK and importing it.

If anyone has any experience of this I'd love to hear from you.

Thanks

Dom

...or, into any EU country, if you don't mind expanding a little. I have a similar situation coming up next year for importing a US registered bike into Germany.

I did this a while ago and it was very easy. Ship it over (we used ro-ro), pick it up, pay the VAT, then get an MoT and you were good to apply for log book. Now I believe you have to get type approval as well as MoT and your local vehicle licensing office will have details off places that can do that with the MoT.
