Importing motorcycle into South Africa
 

Moving back to South Africa at some point and trying to work out all my options. Does anyone know how much customs/exise tax and duties it costs to import a bike from UK? I have read somewhere that used bikes are free and also read that it's 5% of value for bikes under 800cc but that might apply to new bikes only. Seems XT350 and XT225 are quite rare out there which is why I am considering this.

I looked at importing my Tenere into SA and abandoned the plan as it was taking so long to implement.
The process is quite longwinded, but from what I can remember (2 years ago now), the import duty on my bike was very reasonable.
