How to get a book published?

Does anyone have any tips/advice on how to get a travel book published? Do you write the book and then send it to loads of publishers, or just write a chapter and send that off? Which publishers are worth contacting?

Anyone had any experience of trying to do this, either successfully or unsuccessfully?

Hi George (yes i know your real name mate),

Drop me a line sometime. I helped a couple of friends publish a book called "Blue Water Summer" 25 years ago in Exeter.
I was in the printing trade for 20 years.

Cheers,

Nevil

Cheers Nevil (I know your real name too!)

I'll be in touch.

To answer my own question it appears I need to write a few chapters and then send them to an Editor ( or two) and then take it from there. The Editor helps make it all readable and then you attack the publishers after that.

Sounds a lot harder and more daunting than riding a bike around the world. But I'll give it a go.

If you need some proof readers, you have 2 volunteers here. Promise to buy a copy if it is signed.
