HELP - Rear tyre blowout in India

Hey guys,

The rear tyre has gone on my KTM 990 Adventure S, im now in Raipur in India and its not easy to find a tyre!! CAN ANYONE HELP????

Heres the deal i either need to find a tyre in india (150X70) any make aslong as it fits.

OR i actually have a set in Kathmandu Nepal which i left behind as i didn't think i would need them until i returned to Nepal in feb - So is anyone traveling between Kathmandu (Nepal) and India and could bring it into india for me? I can meet you pretty much anywhere!!

If anyone can help please PM me!! Thanks!

Not just up the road but if you can stay put for a couple of days these guys could ship you something down, I brought I rear tyre from them a while back.

Is the whole tyre completely gone/destroyed.

Knowing the Indians and how resourceful they are, would it be possible to patch the tyre and with a thick inner tube still ride, even if very slowly??

The other option would be to DHL a tyre to you... costly but probably a lot quicker.

yep we have patched it a little already using the tube line stuff, i might take it and see if they can do anything more its just very early in my indian adventure and im hoping to find a tyre so we can carry on rather than limp slowly out the country, as India has a strict no re-entry for 2 months rule!!

Thanks for that website, i wil email them so fingers crossed!!

In your position, I would call and not rely on email, or at least email today and follow up with a call first thing in the morning.

Good Luck!

Hey Rixxy (James),

Saw your website/blog and its not the first tyre trouble, or more accurately wheel issue. I saw that you had a head-on stack in Turkey and had to go back to Istanbul. Bugger, you seem to be racking up the breakdowns/accidents.

We hope you and your better half are back on the road in no time!

We'll keep an eye on the thread, so post news or let us know if you need help.

Enjoy a couple of cold God Father's, Kindfisher's or a 4000 in the mean time. beerbeer

Hey guys,

Right after a dam lot of running around and some help from a super duper tyre dealer here who not only left his shop to take me to 20 places but even made me weight outside so he got the price before i went in ( on my own i was getting quotes for 4,000 or 5,000 rupes i ended up paying 2400 or about £30) i found a 130 X 90 on and it fits pretty well.

Im going to keep an eye on the pressures as i got an electric adjuster pump and im going to miss out Goa as we can go there anything in the future and head futher north so we are within striking distance of bigger towns and nepal incase things dont go to plan.

Thanks for you help, im planning on keeping under 100 kmph and watching the pressure every 100 km or so.

Yeah shit happenes, and when you do big trips like this you gotta just suck it up, the accident was just mind bending and felt so unfair but lucky it was slow and all we needed was the wheel, the tyre is annoying but it happenes, the fuel filter was annoying but now we carry a spare, but this is bike travel. Its a shame a touch wood the bike has run like a million bucks!!
