Good to be here!

Hi to all,

this seemed the most appropriate forum for a new member to say hello!

I found HU via Chris Scott's Adventure Motorcycling Handbook, which I bought to cheer myself up from winters gloom.

Well, what a discovery! A fantastic source of information and entertainment!

I've had loads of bikes over the years and covered thousands of miles here in Scotland(including seven winters in a row...brrr!)and a short Enfield trip in Southern India but the last few years have been spent buying a house, going to work etc etc. Now security is all very well but it sure ain't everything!
Between Chris's book and this site I feel inspired to get out there and start covering some miles! Well it might have too wait a little longer as I'm currently laid up with a hernia! All the more time to spend on the site!

Tell me if it's karma but first I find the AMH, then this site and now one of my neighbours has offered me his '98 Transalp, 20000mls, great condition for £1200.00 Maybe it's meant to be or am I missing something?
Comments and opinions welcomed!
I look forward to corresponding with you all.

Welcome, buy the transalp and get yourself booked in to the Hubb meeting this year in Derbyshire. Guaranteed to further wet your appetite!
Good luck with the recovery!

Thanks for the welcome

Just wanted to say thanks for the welcome to the site.

I had a test ride on the Alp on Monday night. I was too impatient to put all my gear on and did I freeze? Oh yeah...! But I had a big grin frozen to my face! Tried it out two-up tonight and it seems pretty capable so I think it's a goer!

Hope to do the deal on Saturday which, by another karma like coincidence, happens to be my birthday. Not a bad present I reckon. And then I think I'll be signing up for the Hubb meeting.

Cheers again, Honda tech board here I come!

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
