Gluten free travel
Has anyone out there any experience of travelling (Western Europe, Eastern Europe, USA, Australia) and having to manage a gluten free diet ? Any experiences would be most welcome as I don't fancy my biking travel being confined to the UK.

Ahhh I’m not alone.... Yep also have to live with a GF diet...
A couple of years ago I rode down to Jordan – no worries with the diet, I just ate around it, however I did carry 1 box of crackers just in case. I’ve also biked around Morocco, Cyprus, Corsica etc and never really had a problem. If I’m cooking then it always includes rice + something.. usually brought at a local shop. In fact I recon the diet is easier as you leave Europe, needed to be shown what certain foods where and once or twice and was unable to eat what was ordered, but hey its all worth it. (Turkish restaurants often have pictures in their menus) Breakfast was always light with just a coffee, boiled eggs, cheese squares, the usual stuff… I would swap my bread for the wife’s boiled egg… darn what a life .. Future plans include, Gambia, north cape and the big one to India…. So I would say, diet doesn’t hold us back. Good luck and feel free to get in touch if you need more reassurance . Cheers Matt |

GF travel
Thanks very much for the reply, it's boosted my confidence. Having visions of my boundaries being narrowed. I'm new to this diet and wondering how to get around the bread problem when travelling, eg for breakfast, sandwiches etc. I guess it's a case of applying lateral thinking !
Cheers, Pete. |

Lots of gluten free products are now available in Spanish supermarkets - look for foods marked 'Alimentos Sin Gluten'.
