HI Man,

Thanks for the feedback about my page. Its done on the way without carying a laptop, netbook or smartphone

>>I'll definitely be wild camping in New Zealand, Australia and Europe to cut down on costs

Well in Europa you should ask farmers etc. to pich your tent then its legal but in real africa you dont have a choice :P

About how much stuff you want to carry its your decision but to load your bike too much will make traveling much harder so just take what you are willing to give away.

If you dont look too smart at official stations they will not try to get bribes out of you and locals will not begg so much but will be realy friendly.

About geting laid i can just warn you. They do have a HIV Quote of more then 1/3 women unter 20 jears in some places.

Travel save, Tobi

I'm going to disagree on the GPS, it is not very high on my list of important gear. It sure is nice to have when navigating a strange city, but I personally would be just as happy not carrying a GPS. I'd just accept that I would spend an extra 1-2 days fumbling around any big city I'm in. On the other hand, it is also useful if your speedometer on the bike does as mine did....

For me, the best thing I've taken so far has been good quality camping gear. I prefer camping to hotels/motels (and not because it saves money, that is just a bonus). What makes camping work so well for me is that I am extremely comfortable, always dry, and camp setup/takedown is very fast. But this requires planning, not just buying whatever is handy and cheap. I use an exped downmat for my pad, a down sleeping bag (Nunatak Arc Alpanist), and Big Agnes Seedhouse SL2 tent.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
