funky biker smell

So I've been on the road a few months now, wearing the same few articles of clothing, and trying to rid my clothes of the funky odor they have taken on. It also lives in my boots, my other shoes, perhaps my sleeping bag...

Short of throwing away everything and getting fresh clothes, are there any other suggestions for de-odorizing ones gear? How long can one expect to keep the odors at bay - at least employing reasonable washing habits?

Try washing your clothes, just kidding :o) You can try a sleeping bag liner for your sleeping bag, and wash or dispose and replace when its to minging.

If your hand washing your clothes, it may be that your clothes are not soaking enough in the powder/water long enough.

One way of doing this is to but your self a small waterproof bag from a camping shop. At the begining of a days riding put your clothes/washing powder/water in the bag and seal it. Strap the bag to the motorbike and ride all day. Whilst your riding the clothes will be agitatated in the bag like the action in a washing machine. It might be worth adding some sceented conditioner to the mix, or buy washing powder with a conditioner in it, it may help

At the end of the day, empty water/powder mix and rinse/ring out clothes, leave to dry and your probs should be sorted.

As for your boots, i don't know. You can try a product thats called over here odour eaters, maybe called something else where you are. They are basicaly a charcoal shoe insole. I have wore training shes without socks with these liners and they definatly work.

If non of the above work, try a clothes peg on your nose :o)

I know the smell you are talking about. Your clothes smell like whatever is in your saddle bags. (Spare parts, chain lube, old socks, etc)

The answer is simple.

Put dryer sheets in you saddle bags.

You know the ones, Bounce, Downey, whatever.

Everything will smell "fresh". Even your extra countershaft sprocket.

Clean all what is posible to clean well and let it hung on a line under the sun and wind!Even for a few days.
Remember that the sun kills allmost any bacteria, hahahaha.
