Just a word of caution if you are a beginner "editor". Whatever you do, keep also copy of your original non-edited images and videos. That way, if you at later time know more about editing you have access to your original materal, otherwise you may ruin your source files with some wrong techniques (editing is usually lossy).

There are several freeware tools for editing, some may be even bundled with your operating system. For paid software there are industry standard Adobe Photoshop Elements and Adobe Premiere Elements among others (trial versions available from Abobe.com), don't confuse with expensive professional products with the same names (not "Elemenets").

Basic editing software often also comes bundled with digital cameras. Some are complete crap while others may be useful.

Like Dan said, Picasa is very quick and very easy to edit photos. It automatically saves your originals into a separate file and you can embed your images easily into blogs etc.

Some online photo editors are Picnik - edit photos the easy way, online in your browser and https://www.photoshop.com/

The other thing I have thought off but not tried or tested in this respect is open office. It has a full suite of progs. perhaps allowing you to kill several birds with one stone.

Give GIMP a try. It is the poor man's Adobe Photoshop, but does basic editing very well. And best part, its free! They have installers for Linux, Windows XP/Vista and Mac OS.

it really depands what sort editing you want to do. if you just want to do basic editing and using MS os, then MS Photo Editor and MS Movie Maker is just fine.

always keep the original copies before you start editing.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
