Dirt Bike Training

Hi,

We are in Suffolk and planning a trip UK to NZ for next May (ish). I have been riding for 2 years now and although can 'hack it' with the best of them would love to feel more comfortable with gravel etc etc. Thought a course on dirt bike riding would help - anyone know where I can do one ? Would have to be bike supplied.

Thanks

Contact your local BMW dealer and ask for details on the "BMW Off Road Skills" course in Wales. Its run for them by John Deacon and Simon Pavey with other Dakar racers there (e.g. Nick Palmer) as instructors too.

Price is £325 and that includes use of their bike (F650GS/Dakar). But hurry as they won't be running many more this year.

The BMW course is very good and no doubt you will benefit from it.

Here's the booking number is your interested:

0800 013 1282

I'm not sure if there are any places left.

I believe that they are going to be doing a few courses in Ireland and Spain. But I think that these are more expensive.

Checkout www.motoaventures.com, I went on the Andorra trip, a complete dirt novice, and had an absolutely brilliant time. I thought good value for money considering what you get, this year's XR400s, quality protective gear, good hotel and food included.

We hit off road around 10:30 each day and wouldn't see tarmac until 18:00/19:00, experiencing just about every type of dirt 'challenge' conceivable. Scenery in the Pyrenees is fantastic too.

Well recommended.

Jenny,
did you ever get that motorcycle training you were looking for?
Unfortunately I missed the BMW training for 2002 and except for one bloke using KTM's, I can't find anyone else trianing between now and end of Feb. Maybe I'm reading the wrong magazins/newspapers to find the ads, but any help would be appreciatewd.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
