Bike reg. in someone else's name

One of my 3 Cagiva Elefant motorcycles is still registered in the previous owner's name.
Actually I am quite happy with that since the reg. is in Romania and it would be a pita to change registration to Germany where I am resident due to all kind of inspection/homologation issues... for those who know, I just say "TÜV"...

I was now wondering if it is going to give me problems if I use this bike for travel in African countries (Morocco would be the first destination).
Would it be a problem if the bike I am using is not registered in my name, and not in the country I am resident of? Of course I am in the possession of the registration and insurance documents. I could also provide a sales contract and a letter by the previous owner stating that I am letigimately using the bike.

Would customs and/or local police take exception to this?
Anybody knows, anybody tried?
THANK YOU !!

Definitely a potential problem in many countries - most borders outside of the EU will immediately set the alarm bells ringing if the bike reg is not in your name - immediately the assumption is (understandably) that the bike may be stolen.

You can get into Morocco if you have a letter signed by the owner giving you permission to ride the bike. All other borders it is really luck of the draw in Africa, however I would not embark on the trip without coming up with a solution to this problem beforehand - it will only give you headaches!

all the best,
Lee

Sh't - as I already guessed this will give me problems.
It's probably going to be easier to get a (mailbox) residence in Romania and register the bike in my name there, than transfer it to Germany.....
