Acerbis tank fitment

Hi,
Have just fitted my new 23 litre Acerbis tank to my XT600E and have a question regarding the aluminium bar that bolts on between the two 'wings' at the front of the tank.
The holes in this brace are about a cm or two closer together than the threaded grommets (if thats the right word!)in the tank through which the fastening bolts go. This means I have to push the two sides of the tank together to fit the brace, meaning the tank is under a reasonable amount of tension.
This may seem like worrying about nothing but I'd be interested if this is the experience of other Acerbis tank owners.
Cheers, Matt

Matt
I had two diferent Acerbis tanks. All hardware given to you is aprox.fitt.
They allways fit(in my case!)with some pressure. You need to push them to fit into the attachment. You feel if this is to much.Try to bend or find a way that it fits allmost easy.

That sounds a tiny bit worrying. I've got one on a Dommie and the fitting is pretty good. I'd be a bit concerned going over bumpy stuff with that much tank "bend".
But hey - it'll probably be fine!

I've had another look and its only about a cm. The funny thing is, the bike came with a rough steel brace for posting which fits just right. I might have another go at emailing Acerbis (didn't work last time).

Try filling it with boiling water, then cinch everything up nice and tight. Hopefully some thermoforming will take place and your tank will fit snug. You might have to experiment with some variations on this theme; for instance, making up a shorter bar for use while thermoforming. Good luck.
