1st time traveller- advice welcome
 

Hi,
I'm planning on undertaking my first motorcycle holiday, but first I should set the scene.....

I am a 19 year old student who has had a 250 liscence since Mar this year (ie not much experience, but no crashes either)and very little travel experience. At the end of this year, a friend (28, very experienced traveller and biker), and I are planning on going to Dehli, India, buy Enfield bullets (or old triumphs if we can find them) and ride them via Nepal, Burma, Thailand, Malaysa and Singapore over Dec and Jan at the end of the year. We will then ship the bikes back to Australia .

My friend is going to ride point the whole way and baby me through the trip.

Is this trip a good idea and what advice can you give me?

so what were the five things that you wish someone had told you about before you embarked on a trip?

I'll pass on the 5 things, it's been longer than I care to admit, but for a fresh view, see Ryan and Dan's story under Travellers Stories - 2 US just-out-of-uni students headed for South America.

There are lots of other good stories there that should give you plenty to think about.

Mostly, just do it - it's not rocket science, and it's not the other side of the moon you're travelling to. All things can be sorted out one way or another.

Great Idea ! DO IT!! but be careful and plan seriusly, have a look at some websites. Get a good book like "Adventure Motocycling Handbook by Chris Scott".

Dont buy the Triump, outdated...buy the enfield, the best for long distance travel.
