Stick throwing at Dogubayatiz Border Crossing

Just a note that the kids on the side of the road leading into Dogubayazit (for the Turkey to Iran Border Crossing) that love to throw stones at passing motorcycles have progressed to throwing sticks..approximately 1inch think by 3 foot long. Luckily the little blighters were on the other side of the road and up a hill to us so didn't quite make the distance but I would hate to be closer to them.

I think they have been doing this here since the first motorcycle ventured this way back in the year dot, it is certainly nothing new, I found if you ride towards them they tend to run away, hopfully before launching anything at you.

I encountered the stone throwing when I was in that area a couple of years ago.

Giving the bike some throttle and charging at them worked well enough.

A Turkish friend of mine later said that "they are just trying to make a connection with you" and laughed.

Cheers,
