Safety in northern Kyrgyzstan

I'm planning to spend 4 days in northern Kyrgyzstan on my way back to Italy for my motorcycle trip of June/July 2011.

I have read the warning issues on the sites of the Italian Foreign Office and of the British one, and they tend to advice for sure against travelling in the south (regions of Osh and Jalalabad) after the riots of June 2010, but the Italian one says that travels in the entire Kyrgyzstan, in this period, should be avoided unless there's absolutely necessary reasons...

As said above, I'd stay only in the north with direction Bishkek-Kochkor-Chayek-Sussamyr-Otmek Pass-Talas and then into Kazakhstan bound to Samarkand...
Has some of you guys been in that northern area recently? How did you feel the situation?

Thanks you all,

Nick

I spent last holidays there and was safe. Absolutely. I plan to be there also this year. Our embassy in Kazakhstan also advised to stay away from Kyrgyzstan. But when we meet in Almaty I realized they had absolutely no other sources of information than TV
I have a friends, Russian in this region. It is safe. Also southern part seems quiet now. There are no disturbing news in agencies.

Agree with Sambor was there last summer couple of weeks.
Really friendly and nice peoples. Most of that is politics etc.
Normal biker will be safe. What they can gain against you? Nothing...
