Hello everybody
does somebody in here know if its possible to buy and register motorcycles( not necessarily enfield) in pakistan or india for foreigners?
is it also possible to get carnet de passage for that?

absolutely possible in India...contact the wiaa- western India automobile association in Mumbai..they should be able to help you get a carnet..:thumbup1:

In the menu on the left under Paperwork it clearly states that it's not possible in India. Nepal is poss.

As raisola said, there are hundreds of Israelis travelling on Enfields in India/Nepal without problems.

The problem is regarding registration. It's been a while since I researched this, but the issue with registration (and Carnet) is that you need to be a resident in India to register the motorcycle (i.e. you need to provide proof of a permenant address in India).

I bought my Enfield in Delhi and have been travelling in India/Nepal for the last 3 months. I have all the ownership documents, but they are still in the original owners name.

RE to Jap Trailies for hire:

I don't think you can find Jap trailies for hire in India from what I have seen, but anything is possible in India.... The closest you can get is probably the Hero Honda Karizma with the KRP Rally Modifications Kit:

I went to see the KRP shop in Delhi and the guys were really nice and professional, though the place is a bit hard to find. It's probably the best place in India (or atleast this side of Mumbai) to get imported gear.

Folks: the first and only rule in India is that there are no rules or they can be bent. need I say more? For non enfield bikes take a look at the bajaj pulsar.

While it is possible to get the vehicle registered in India as the Registration officer may just make a lapse and not notice that the residence proof is missing it does not mean that the Carnet De Passage can be obtained as these are issued by the Automobile Associations abroad and they are aware of the legalities.

well talking about Nepal, I have a nepalese friend there and when I went there last year, I rode a bike for 2 days, Traffic didnt bother to check anything. And Yest it amazing, Traffic doesnt even look for license or registration! unless you are tourist you dont have to wear any helmets. I did have some official ID, but never had to take it out

About registration for tourist, Yes I think its possible, You have to show some official documents , may be of work? . I heard its long process!! but You can try
