I have opened a paypal account where HU-ers can contribute towards the search: 11 people, 3 parties incl 7 bikers...

They can access it from my
http://www.sahara-overland.com
page

Units are £22.

We met 4 of the guys in Tamanrasset during Desert Riders - so it's hitting home here.

Chris,

Just a remark.
Wanted to make a donation but needed to get a paypal account. I signed up for one but I will only get my 4 digit code on my next visa-statement... wich is the end of the month. Untill then I can't send any money :-(
Sure the money will be more then welcome wether it arrives tommorow or in a couple of weeks.
But if a lot of folks need to wait for their monthly statement their might be some delay.

Pieter.

I had the same PayPal problem. At http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb...ML/000989.html Chris Scott suggests you can send him a cheque and he will forward monies. See link for details.

At http://www.sahara-info.ch/forum/ there are links for people to do money transfers to accounts in NL, Ger, Austria and Switzerland. Click on "SPENDENAKTION für die Vermissten"

I did receive an instant email from PayPal, basically stating that there were _limits_ to spending prior to entering the 4-digit number, as follows:

"Until you enter your Member Number, you may be limited in the amount of
money you are able to send. To find out how much you can send before entering
your Member Number...."

I think I have read somewhere that there may be more of a problem from non-UK residents.

Since I don't have cheques this might get difficult...
Normally I should get the code on my visa statement.
Lets just hope for the best.

Since it would appear that there have been no recent forum updates, may I offer the following.

An AP story today, May 13th 2003, said that there are a total of 32 missing "tourist" traveling by both four wheelers and motorcycles. With 16 of them being German, the German foreign minister has requested help from the Algerian government in finding these victims.

The main suspects are said to be Islamic terrorist.

I just read the Swedish newspaper DN on the net. They stated that 17 of the 32 persons missing in Algeria has been released. All of the 17 was in good physical condition.

Lets hope that the rest also will be released soon.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
