Pakistan Updates?

Hi Joe and all..

havent seen any new for a while. We are in north Thailand now and head to Nepal and India in 3 weeks. After 5 weeks there, we are off through Pakistan and Iran. Situation in PK getting worse ad sounding more like Iraq every day. 22 dead in suicide blast in Lahore a few hours ago.

As a backup, does anyone have any guidance on sea shipping from Bombay to Oman or UAE? Maybe look to ferr o southern Iran from there.

Cheers,

Robb

I investigated shipping from Bombay to Bandar Abbas (Iran) in August last year. It is possible but you can't go with the bike.

Options are Fly to Tehran and then take the 30 hr train journey back to Bandar or... fly to Dubai and get the ferry from there to Iran (near Bandar)... thats the cheapest option of the 2.

If you want agents contact details, let me know.

John

Here's a view, some explanation and comment on the recent event in PK that you mention:-
BBC NEWS | South Asia | Lahore bomb raises sectarian questions

You might conclude that this will settle down in about 1 month; until the next time.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
