Mot?

Hi,

I´d like to know if my current MOT for the UK expires in September do I have to go back to the UK with the bike before then continuing on with further tours?
There seems to be no mention anywhere of having to have your MOT certificate for countries outside the UK.

Many thanks,
David.

David,
Can't see why, other than if a current insurance policy you are running requires it to be in date.

You don't say where you are, where you are going etc but the UK MOT annual test is a bit of UK law and, therefore, it applies only in the UK.

Have fun and welcome to here!

If you do a search on key words you will find lots more discussion of this type of thing in here!

Cheers,

Walkabout is correct - NO need for the MOT while out of the country - you DO need to "declare SORN" though or it's a big fine!

Also on your return you are technically illegal until you do pass the MOT - which in theory you should immediately do on landing in say Dover.

David,
You can do it all here:-

DVLA Online Vehicle Licensing | Home

SORN is needed if your tax disc expires - gone are the days when you just put the bike into storage, you now have to tell the Government (as if anyone there is really interested)!

I believe there are some other threads here on the following lines: Book an MOT test at a garage near your home when you are re-entering the UK - you can then ride to the test in order to get the bike tested without holding a current MOT certificate (so I understand - tell the cops I told you!!)
