NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — A Westchester County woman is pleading for help after she says her son went missing in Mexico while on a transcontinental motorcycle adventure.

Ann Devert, of Pelham, N.Y., said she’s desperate to find her only child, CBS 2′s Cindy Hsu reported Saturday.

“I love my son,” Devert said. “And I don’t need him next to me, but I need to know he’s alive in the world and that he’s OK.”

Devert says her 32-year-old son, Harry, disappeared in Mexico on Jan. 25 and hasn’t been heard from since.

“I’m hoping for anyone who has a connection in Mexico to that area to tell people to be on the lookout for my son, my beloved, beloved son,” Devert told Hsu.

In early December, Harry, a world traveler and adventure blogger, jumped on his motorcycle in New Rochelle, N.Y.

He traveled cross-country and down to Mexico with the hope to ride all the way to the tip of South America, Hsu reported.

Harry was in a volatile area near Zihuatanejo, being guided by a Mexican military escort when he texted a friend saying he’d be in touch later that night. Then, he vanished.

The family says they have reached out to the U.S. Embassy in Mexico and American government officials for help.

Attorney Darren Del Sardo volunteered his services for free, Hsu reported.

“Here we have a single mother who really doesn’t have the resources to find out exactly what’s going on and how our system here works when people are traveling abroad,” Sardo said.

Friends also created a Facebook page with the hope that someone will give them the break they need and bring Harry home.

“We need help,” friend Jackie Burrell said. “And I can tell you that together, the group of people that we are, we will find Harry,”

There has been no activity on Devert’s credit cards since his disappearance and his cell phone is no longer in service.
